This post is dedicated to all of you out there with a strange passion for… concrete. We’ve seen many examples of concrete furniture on our site, it is time to take it up a notch and present this incredible fashion line by Budapest-based design company IVANKA. According to the studio’s official description, their entire work is based on the versatile nature of CONCRETE, “main material chosen for creative expression through discovering unexplored attributes”. Concrete Genezis is the name of this new clothing collection presented in the photos below and based on a new textile that mimics the look of the industrial material.
Most of the designs presented by IVANKA consist of a merger between actual concrete and genuine leather: “Formerly strangers to one another, the introduction between these two materials translates beautifully into these eye-catching and wearable must-have items”. The idea for the intriguing clothing line hit founders Katalin Ivanka and Andras Ivanka during a photo shooting session in which they wore clothing that had been dipped in concrete and then allowed to dry. Find the designs below appealing?
And who says recessed living areas need to be indoors? Your outdoor space can benefit just as much from sunken seating, as evidenced by this elegant, stone-lined patio by Dean Herald-Rolling Stone Landscapes. And for one final dose of sunken living room eye candy, feast your eyes on this over-the-top living area by Chris Barrett Designs. The former estate of Johnny Carson features giant windows overlooking a cliff in Malibu, so it’s no wonder a safe and plush sunken sofa was added to ground the space.
Speaking of “less is more” design, if your shelf offers little display space, consider opting for one or two standout items to showcase rather than a slew of small finds. In the next image, we see the Magical Thinking Peaks Shelf, crafted from glass and aluminum. Then again, there’s something charming about a curiously cluttered look, especially if items are thoughtfully curated. The Magical Thinking Pyramid Shelf below holds treasures and curiosities. When your shelves make a sculptural statement, don’t overwhelm and block them with clutter. After all, when the design is as fabulous as the Bamboo Step Wall Shelf in the next featured image, you certainly don’t want to cover up the bold form of your shelving.
