Geometry is taken to another level in these playfully-creative ceramic tiles designed by Matt W. Moore for Core Deco, a brand focusing on functional design, furniture and home goods. Each of the tiles in the collection has a special pattern, developed diagonally and elegantly displaying a black&white finish. They can be used individually, as coasters or assembled together for various decorative needs.
The original ceramic tiles are currently being sold in sets of four pieces, each of them having a different pattern. By shifting them around, new eye-catching geometric connections can be achieved. In order to develop these coasters, Matt worked with Dominic D’Alessio, a skilled craftsman in the field. Be sure to check out the video we uploaded at the end of the post and share your thoughts about this project. Find it as surprising and creative as we do?
And one of my all-time favorite shelf styling tricks is to display plants on the top layer of shelving, which will draw the eye upward, as well as create height and drama. Below we see shelf-top plants in a tour of my retro-modern home office. Last but not least, we shine the spotlight on the challenging task of styling kids’ room shelving, drawing inspiration from the product photography of The Land of Nod. The Zero Gravity Wall Shelf below illustrates a perfect balance of practicality and design flair, mixing carefully placed toys with books in eye-catching colors.

Read on for some of our favorite inspiration rooms featuring cozy sunken living areas that we’d love to nestle up in. The soaring ceilings of this bright and airy Texas home are further exaggerated by its recessed seating area. The raw look of the wooden ceilings and concrete floors are softened by strategically placed pops of color and plush pillows.
